Beautiful hair is balanced, healthy and lustrous, while damaged hair is dull, weak and brittle. It breaks off easily, acquires split ends and can even lead to hair loss. The most common causes of hair damage are hair styling techniques using chemical lotions, or direct heat applications, excessive use of hair dryers and habitually tying back the hair tightly.
Damaged hair is in a fragile condition, so treat it gently.
Discontinue the use of brushes and use a wide toothed comb with smooth edges, especially when the hair is wet.
Hot oil therapy will help. Twice a week heat pure coconut oil and apply on hair and also ends. Massage the scalp gently, using only the finger tips. Then follow the “hot towel wrap,” to help the hair absorb the oil better. Keep the oil on overnight and wash the hair the next day with lukewarm or cool water.
To dry the hair, wrap the towel around the head and allow it to absorb excess water. Comb out tangles with the wide toothed comb, starting from the ends and working upwards. Allow hair to dry naturally.
Regular conditioning is extremely important. Take 2 tablespoons honey, one tablespoon sesame seed (til) oil and one egg yolk. Mix together and apply on the scalp and hair. Apply on the ends too. Wear a plastic shower cap and leave on for an hour before washing the hair.
Mix together one egg, two tablespoons pure almond oil, the juice of a lemon. Apply and wear a shower cap. Wash hair after half an hour.
Mix Banana and Avocado pulp together and add one tablespoon olive oil. Apply the mixture as a hair pack, to restore health, soften and condition the hair. Wash off after an hour.
