Home-made Face Packs

In your home, right there on the kitchen shelf or your fridge, are some of the most powerful ingredients for making face packs that help to smooth and clear skin. From vinegar, mayonnaise, cooking oils, eggs, fruits and vegetables, make a face pack at home.

For blemishes like pimple marks, allow Marigold (gainda) flowers to stand in warm water overnight. Add yogurt and sandalwood paste to the flower and mix together to make a smooth paste. Apply on the face and wash it off after 20 minutes.

For open pores and acne marks on oily and combination skin, mix two teaspoons oats with one teaspoon each ground almonds, rose water, honey and yogurt. Apply on the face, avoiding lips and area around eyes. Wash off after 20 minutes.

To minimize dark marks, soak Lotus flowers in 3 to 4 tablespoons warm milk for an hour. Crush the flowers with fingers. Add three teaspoons gram flour (besan) and mix it with the milk and crushed flowers into a paste. Apply on the face, avoiding the lips and area around eyes. Wash it off after 20 to 30 minutes.

Mix one teaspoon each honey and orange juice with egg white. Apply on the face, to nourish and moisturize the skin, making it soft and smooth. Wash it off after 20 minutes.

Soak one teaspoon urad dal and 4 almonds in water overnight and then grind into a paste. Apply this protein mask on your face and wash it off after 20 minutes. It produces an even colour tone.

Take honey and yogurt and add a few tablespoons of red wine. Apply this on the face and leave it on for 20 minutes. Rinse with plain water. This softens and moisturizes the skin, removes tan and also adds a glow.
