Dark circles are a nightmare for everyone, whether a man or a woman. No matter how hard you try to prevent them, you’re guaranteed to have them if you don’t take proper care. Dark circles below the eyes can be caused by various factors, including stress, lack of sleep, hormonal changes and a sedentary lifestyle.
As the skin around the eyes is sensitive, it’s better to fix these problems with natural remedies rather than medications based on synthetic and harsh substances. So, here’s a list of essential and easy-to-follow home remedies that will help you breathe fresh life under your eyes.
- Grated Cucumber or Potatoes
Vitamins, antioxidants and the anti-inflammatory properties of cooling vegetables assist in decreasing inflammation and discolouration around the eyes. They can also help to reduce puffiness around the eyes. No doubt, this is one of the most effective treatments.
Grate some raw potatoes or cucumber into shreds and lay them on the skin under your eyes. Wash off after 10 minutes with plain water. You may also use the juice of potatoes or cucumbers as an alternative. Place a cotton ball over your eyes after soaking it in the juice. Make sure you’ve covered the entire area around the black rings. Allow for 1-3 minutes before rinsing with cold water. You may alternatively lay cucumber or potato slices straight on your eyes if you’re short on time.
- Cold Milk
A natural eye cleanser, cold milk helps soothe the delicate skin around the eyes. It helps relieve puffiness and lightens the skin. Furthermore, it keeps the skin moisturised, resulting in softer and supple skin.
Apply a cotton ball dipped in cold milk to the eye region. Allow it to sit for a few minutes before rinsing your eyes with cool water. Follow this cure at least three times a week.
- Aloe Vera
Aloe Vera works well as a moisturiser. Skin that is moisturised is less prone to sag and will last longer. Aloe Vera also helps nourish the skin and helps prevent premature ageing.
Apply Aloe Vera gel underneath the eyes and massage for 5-7 minutes before bed. Rinse with plain water.
- Cold tea bags
One of the easiest and most effective techniques to remove dark circles is to use cold tea bags. The tannin in tea helps to constrict blood vessels, lowering blood flow and alleviating dark circles. Use chamomile tea or green tea bags for the greatest results.
After soaking the bags in water, place them in the refrigerator. Take them out of the refrigerator and place them over both eyes for 10 to 15 minutes. Repeat this remedy on a regular basis.
- Tomatoes
Tomatoes are natural bleaching agents with antioxidants that might help to reduce discolouration around the eyes.
Apply a spoonful of tomato juice mixed with a spoon of lemon juice under both eyes. Leave it for ten minutes before rinsing it off with cool water. To avoid dark circles, you may also drink tomato juice blended with little lemon juice and mint leaves.
Dark circles are extremely recurrent, but they should not spell doom for you. Hence, follow these easy natural remedies and get rid of those obstinate dark circles.
