A Good Home Skin Care Routine

For external skin care, have an understanding of your skin type. The daily care of the skin involves cleansing, exfoliation (use of scrubs), toning, moisturizing, nourishing and masks.

Cleanse your skin in the morning and at night. For normal to dry skin, take 4 tablespoons of milk and mix 4 to 5 drops of coconut oil.  Dip cotton wool in it and use it to wipe the skin.

For normal to oily and combination skin, add lemon juice and rose water to ripe papaya pulp; apply on the face and wash off after 10 minutes.

Exfoliation with facial scrubs helps to remove dead skin cells. For all skin types, mix ground almonds with yoghurt and a pinch of turmeric into a paste. Apply on the face, avoiding the area around the eyes. After 15 minutes, dampen with water and rub gently. Wash off with water. Avoid applying scrubs on pimples, acne, injuries or rash.

Toning of the skin follows cleansing. Toning helps improve blood circulation to the skin surface and refresh the skin. Soak cotton wool pads in chilled rose water. Wipe the skin with it.

Mix one teaspoon pure glycerin with 100 ml rose water. Apply on face to moisturize and relieve dryness.

Nourishing is important for normal to dry skin. At night, after cleansing, apply coconut oil and massage on the skin for a few minutes. Wipe off with moist cotton wool.

Masks help to tighten the skin and add a glow. For all skin types, mix two teaspoons wheat bran (choker) with one teaspoon each ground almonds, yogurt, honey and rose water. Apply on the face, avoiding the lips and area around eyes. Wash off with water after 20 minutes.
