5 DIY Homemade Lip Balms

Lips have far more sensitive and fragile skin than the rest of our body. That is why our lips are prone to dryness, flakiness, and even peeling. Due to the great sensitivity, dry and chapped lips are a common problem all over the world. This necessitates the use of nourishing lip balms to care for our lips and undo the damage caused by prolonged dryness.

A strong and effective lip balm is one that contains a blend of super nourishing and moisturising oils, butter and hydrating agents to keep your lips supple and plump. Smooth and supple lips not only keep irritation at bay, but also facilitate better makeup application and give it a nice-looking finish.

Lip balms produced with natural ingredients help to speed up the healing process. You can always make your own budget-friendly lip balm with the items you have in your kitchen. Continue reading to know about different DIY lip balms remedies-

  • Beetroot lip balm

Take half cup grated beetroot and one teaspoon ghee.  With the use of cheesecloth, strain the juice from the shredded beetroot. Refrigerate the ghee and beetroot juice mixture to use as a lip balm.

Beetroot contains the pigments betanin and vulgaxanthin, which assist in brightening dark, pigmented lips and give them a natural reddish-pink colour. Ghee acts as a nourishing and moisturising substance.

  • Strawberry lip balm

Make a smooth paste out of one completely ripe strawberry and three tablespoons of coconut oil. Refrigerate them after mixing thoroughly.

Strawberries are high in vitamin C and function as a mild cleanser, which is especially beneficial in the winter when people’s lips get dry or cracked. After exfoliation, coconut oil fills the lips with healthy lipids.

  • Cinnamon lip balm

Refrigerate a mixture of 2-3 drops of cinnamon oil and one spoonful of cocoa butter. Use it as a conventional lip balm.

Cinnamon is an antioxidant that serves as natural lip plumper by causing a tingling sensation on the lips. Cocoa butter moisturises and nourishes the skin, as well as reduces the tingling sensation caused by cinnamon.

  • Pomegranate lip balm

In a small bowl, place half a cup of pomegranate seeds and squeeze out the juice with a spoon or pestle. One tablespoon of melted coconut oil, is transferred to a small jar and refrigerated.

Pomegranate is high in antioxidants, while coconut oil is high in healthy fats, which keeps the lips moist.

  • Raspberry And Lemon Lip Balm

Proceed by microwaving two tablespoons of coconut oil for around 20 seconds. Then combine the two ingredients by adding two teaspoons of raspberry gelatine mix. Microwave the mixture again, and then add the lemon essential oil and stir thoroughly. Pour the mixture into your lip balm container with care and leave it in the refrigerator to solidify.

Coconut oil moisturises the lips and has therapeutic characteristics that aid in the rejuvenation of the lips. Raspberries, on the other hand, protect your lips from UV damage, reducing the risk of dark lips or pigmentation. Lemon also aids in the brightening of the lips.

Lip balm is something that everyone should adopt, regardless of your gender. Every minute of every day, our lips are exposed to different elements like extreme cold, dry air, and scorching heat, which is a lot to bear. Try these DIY lip balms to keep your lips look young, wrinkle-free and nourished.
