Natural Remedies for Treating Pigmentation: How to Remove Dark Spots Easily!

Pigmentation on your skin is caused by the excess production of ‘melanin’ – the pigment that gives your skin its colour. Pigmentation can occur either in small patches or over a large area. Some of its leading causes are overexposure to the sun, pollution, and an unhealthy diet. But yes, you can treat it at home, and here are 5 completely natural remedies for you:

Almond Paste: Almonds are loaded with Vitamin E which has marvellous benefits for your skin.

  • Step 1: Soak a handful of almonds overnight, peel them in the morning and grind them into a powder.
  • Step 2: Add 2 tbsp of milk, 1 teaspoon honey & lemon juice each to make a paste.
  • Step 3: Apply it to the affected areas and leave it overnight. Rinse with tepid water in the morning.

It helps treat dark spots in 2 weeks if used consistently.

Tomato: Citrus fruits like tomatoes contain free radicals which help in the reduction of pigmentation. Their antioxidant and Vit A content contribute towards the overall health of your skin.

  • Step 1: Slice a ripe tomato and rub the slices on the affected area.
  • Step 2: Let it dry for 10-15 minutes and wash off with lukewarm water.

It yields results in several weeks. Consistency is the key to its effectiveness.

Black Tea: As ironic as the name may sound, black tea is rich in antioxidants & possesses skin cleaning properties that eliminate the blemish-causing toxins from your skin.

  • Step 1: Take 1 tbsp of black tea leaves in a pan & add 1 tbsp of distilled water. Boil it on low flame for 2 hours.
  • Step 2: Cool it down and strain it into a bowl. Use cotton swabs to soak in the black tea and apply to the affected areas.
  • Step 3: Let the dappled patches dry naturally for ~20 minutes & wash them off with cool water.

The skin-whitening properties effectively reduce dark spots within 4 weeks if this process is adhered to religiously.

Lemon: The abundant antioxidant content in lemons brightens the skin and also help protect it against UV rays while healing dark spots.

  • Step 1: Mix 1 tbsp lemon juice & 1 teaspoon of honey. Apply the mix to your facial dark spots.
  • Step 2: Leave it on for ~15 mins and then rinse it off with lukewarm water.

This remedy can be used twice or thrice a week for face pigmentation only. Do a patch test if you have sensitive skin.

Onion Juice: Onions are packed with Vitamin C which treats pigmentation very effectively. It also contains antioxidants and vitamins that deliver a significant beauty boost to the skin.

  • Step 1: Cut 1 red onion into slices and rub it directly onto the affected areas on your face.
  • Step 2: Let it sit for ~10 mins and then wash it off with tepid water.

OR

  • Step 2: Blend the slices into a juice and apply it on the affected areas with a cotton swab.

Apply onion juice twice a day to get rid of dull facial skin.

All these remedies are highly effective, but you must remember to be patient as all good things take time. You need to follow the steps regularly as mentioned.
