Home Remedies and Skin Care Tips for Teens During the Summer

Teenagers enjoy spending time outdoors, but the heat and humidity may damage their skin. Tanning, acne, and sunburn are all common skin concerns that teenagers suffer throughout the summer.

Allow your adolescent to enjoy the sun without worrying about skin concerns this summer. Continue reading for some great home treatments and skin care tips.

  1. Cleansing

Cleansing your skin daily is necessary to eliminate grime, oil, and dead skin flakes. Washing your face also removes excess oil, which helps to prevent acne.

Cleanse the skin with a light cleanser before rinsing with lukewarm water. Rosewater, coconut oil, honey, raw milk, and cucumber are natural ingredients that may be used to cleanse the skin of a tween or teen. These components can be used directly for cleansing, or you can use herbal cleansers that contains them

  1. Moisturizing

A moisturizer is essential for hydrating and softening the fragile skin of children. Using a moisturizer that does not exacerbate the skin condition, one should moisturize the skin twice a day, in the morning and evening.

Use a mild, oil-free moisturizer to minimize clogging if you have oily skin, and avoid moisturizers with different scents if you have sensitive skin. Natural moisturizing substances for adolescent skin include raw milk, banana, honey, aloe vera, coconut, and olive oil.

  1. Sun Protection

Teenagers are more susceptible to sunburn than adults since their skin is more sensitive. They are also more prone to tanning since they like playing and exploring. As a result, they must apply sunscreen before venturing out in the summer. Using sunscreen with an SPF – 25 or higher and natural ingredients like sandalwood, sesame oil, coconut oil, shea butter, vitamin-E oil, and saffron sun-protective characteristics is suggested.

You may also try this lemon and honey home remedy to get rid of sun tanning since it is quite efficient in lightening skin tan. Honey eliminates impurities and hydrates the skin, while lemon lightens it. In a dish, combine one teaspoon fresh lemon juice and one tablespoon honey. Mix well and apply to your face. After approximately half an hour, wash it off.

  1. Lip Care

Do your lip care frequently and put on lip balms at least twice a day. This prevents them from drying out. It’s best not to lick your lips since it dries them out. The dry skin should not be peeled. You can use beetroot, coconut oil, ghee, or olive oil as a lip balm.

You can also make your DIY homemade lip balm. Take half a cup of grated beetroot and one teaspoon of ghee. With the use of cheesecloth, strain the juice from the shredded beetroot. Refrigerate the ghee and beetroot juice mixture to use as a lip balm.

Beetroot contains the pigments betanin and vulgaxanthin, which assist in brightening dark, pigmented lips and give them a natural reddish-pink colour. Ghee acts as a nourishing and moisturising substance.

  1. Take control of body odour

Bathing will not be enough for some teenager to keep body odour at bay throughout the day, especially if they are hyperactive. To get rid of body odour, it is suggested to either use deodorant or antiperspirant. Antiperspirants halt or reduce the amount of perspiration generated, whereas deodorants suppress the odour of sweat.

Take 1/3 cup coconut oil in a saucepan over low heat until completely melted. Then stir in the corn-starch and baking soda until smooth. Add 6-8 drops of essential oil to it (Lavender, lemongrass, sandalwood, tea tree and grapefruit essential oils will make you smell unquestionably congenial). Refrigerate the mixture after transferring it to a small glass jar. For a mess-free use, apply with your hands or transfer with a spoon to an empty deodorant bottle.

Sweaty youngsters should also wear clean undergarments and T-shirts every day, made up of cotton and other natural fibres, as they absorb perspiration better than synthetic fibres.
