Panchkarma,
Dhara and Kerala Massage
In
the context of modern-day life, stress has assumed
newer and greater dimensions, with increasing
economic pressures and job-related anxieties.
Today, mental stress is recognized as the
contributory cause of many ailments. It leads to
imbalances in the system and subsequently to
diseases. In this respect, the holistic healing
system of Ayurveda has the answers, as its
therapeutic aim is to bring about the required
equilibrium.
As
an answer to the modern needs, the Shahnaz Husain
Group offers traditional healing techniques of
Dhara and Kerala Massage, along with Aromatherapy
Massage and various skin, hair and body
treatments.
The
removal of toxins and therapeutic massage are the
basis of stress-reduction treatments, as they help
to activate the inherent curative powers of both
body and mind. The art of massage has been
nurtured and perfected by the Kairali system,
which is world renowned for its therapeutic
values. It is not only used in the treatment of
many ailments, but also for revitalizing and
rejuvenating body and mind. The herbalized oils
used in the massage have potent curative
properties. These treatments not only relieve
mental stress and induce relaxation, but also
revitalize the metabolic processes. They improve
blood circulation, tone the muscles and actually
improve sense perceptions, mental processes and
performance levels.
Panchkarma
is one of the major healing techniques of Ayurveda,
offering a systematic programme of revitalization.
Panchkarma literally means "Five
Actions." Therefore, it involves a complex
series of therapeutic steps, which help to flush
out and eliminate toxins from every cell. The
removal of toxins and wastes is an essential part
of Ayurvedic treatments. It helps to activate the
inherent curative powers of both body and mind.
Once the morbidity caused by toxins is eliminated,
the body's response to palliative therapy is
greatly improved.
Dhara
means "flow" and here it specially
signifies "downward flow." It is a pre-Panchkarma
therapy and helps to open the channels of body and
mind, in order to facilitate the treatment of
disease. In Dhara, liquid medicaments, like
herbalized oils, milk or ghee are placed in a
bowl, hanging at an appropriate height above the
body of the patient. The bowl is made of clay and
has a hole in the centre of the base.
The
oils are chosen according to individual "dosha",
the nature of illness and the individual
constitution. The oil is then allowed to drip on
to the forehead of the patient. This is known as
Shirodhara. This treatment directly affects the
central nervous system and is profoundly relaxing
on the mind. Thus, it is ideal for relieving
mental stress and for preparing the body to accept
therapy. Depending on the disease or "dosha",
Dhara is performed on the head, or the body, or
both. The entire procedure may take one to two
hours. Massage is also performed simultaneously.
This combination of Dhara and Massage helps to
loosen the excess doshas, or toxins, and directs
their flow towards the organs of elimination.
Such
Ayurvedic treatments are being given for diseases
of the ear, nose and throat, paralysis, neuralgia,
migraine, insomnia, sinusitis, arthritis,
spondilitis, gout and other rheumatic diseases,
etc. Panchkarma, Dhara and Kerala Massage have
been kept alive in the traditional Ayurvedic
system of healing. They can be the stepping stone
towards good health, not only for those who are
sick, but for all those who wish to come closer to
better health.
The
Shahnaz Husain Ayurvedic Centre employs Ayurvedic
physicians and professionally trained personnel to
conduct the various treatments. An individualized
approach, along with all necessary facilities have
been made available, to provide a perfect
environment for treatment. Ayurveda being a
holistic system, advice on diet and lifestyle are
included with the treatments. The herbalised oils
are also manufactured by the Group. The Shahnaz
Husain Group has become known for its expertise in
natural care. Their total commitment to client
care is a wonderful experience, geared to
establish a long relationship. In fact, the
